Son of Henry Julyan and Mary Rachel Hoyte, of Birmingham. Native of Northern Rhodesia. Entered Gaul House in January 1933. After passing his Matriculation Examination he left Plumtree in April 1938, and was entered as a student of Westminster Hospital Medical School, and started working for the 1st M.B. at the University College London. School Record: House Prefect, 1937; L/Cpl. Medical Section, 1936; Rugger 1st XV, 1937; Athletic Under 16 Champion, 1936; Boxing team, 1936; under 14 Swimming Champion. On Plumtree School Roll of Honour
