Information:
Son of Frederick James Beaton, late of the Kimberley Regiment WW1, and Agnes Margaret Mary Rita Beaton, of Rayman Lodge, Sherborne Road, Parktown, Johannesburg. Educated at Christian Brothers College, Kimberley. He attested in June 1940 and after a period of officer training was sent to North Africa, attached to the SATC. He returned to SA on leave in 1943 and was then sent to Italy. Born in Kimberley, he was an accountant. He was unmarried and had a sister.
