Son of Arthur and Anne McCabe, of East London, and King William's Town, Cape Colony, South Africa. Born Johannesburg. Altar boy at St. Paul's Church, Durban. Member of the St. Paul?s Boy Scout Troop. Member of Queen?s Park Swimming Club. A junior clerk with the SAR&H. Educated at Glenwood Technical College, Durban. Commemorated on WWI Memorial, St. Mary's Anglican Church, Greyville, Durban - Panel 3 and on WWI Memorial in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Durban. The congregation made the decision to install a stained glass window in the Lady Chapel to honour Archie Lee and Basil McCabe. The images of the two boy scouts are based on actual photos of the boys. Commemorated Boy Scouts WWI ROH, Durban City Hall. Commemoarted on Queens Park Swimming Club, WWI Memorial at Durban North Municipal Pool. Commemorated in stained glass Memorial in the Lady Chapel, St. Paul?s & on DTHS / Glenwood High School WWI Memorials.
