Son of Cathcart William and Amy Methven, of "Bayswater," 465, Bartle Rd., Umbilo, Durban, Natal. Educated Maritzburg College. Played rugby for Durban Rovers pre-WWI. Wounded (thigh severe) Butte de Warlencourt 12 October 1916; evacuated to Tooting Hospital, London; missing 12 April 1918 ? POW; detained at Camp #1207. Commemorated on Maritzburg College cenotaph. His brother also died in service. Commemorated on St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Berea, Durban and St. Cyprian's Anglican Church, Durban and Ladybrand, Orange Free State WWI Memorials
