Killed in action, Wesseling Raid 21/22 June 1944, Lancaster ND552 was lost after an attack by German night fighters, it crashed in a Coal Mines site near Lanklaar, on an operation to bomb the oil refinery works at Wesseling along with 132 other Lancasters and Mosquitoes
