Member of the London stock exchange, 1899-1902. On Staff of the South African Railways, Johannesburg, 1902-4. Member of Johannesburg stock exchange, 1904-11; of the London stock exchange from 1911. Served in the Great War, 1914-19 (Capt., S. African Infantry; Major, King's R.R.C.; D.A.Q.M.G.; Asst. Controller of salvage; wounded; M.C.; mentioned in despatches). South African Cricketer - played in twenty test matches.
