Cause of Death:
Killed in action, Lancaster I R5493, took off from Waddington at 19:50 on a Gardening sortie in the Lorient area. A sea plot was heard from the aircraft around 23:00 hours and it is believed that the aircraft was shot down by flak from the Ile de Croix.

Entered Gaul House in January 1928. He was appointed a House Prefect in 1932; School Athletic Team, 1932; School 1st Tennis VI, 1931; he took an interest in Rugger and Boxing, and was a lance-corporal in the Cadet Corps.
