Cause of Death:
 Died in Freak Accident, drowned. Part of a 4-man squad on O.P. duties on the Kavango River, on a piece of land that formed a peninsula. During the night the river rose, cutting that piece of land off from the river-edge. The river flowed very strongly and, in the squads' attempts to get back, Pietersen drowned.
