Killed in action, Lancaster I ME804, took off 2326 21 June 1944 from Dunholme Lodge. Shot down by a night fighter and crashed in the vicinity of Lutselus (Limburg) 6 km SSW from the centre of Genk Belgium

Information:
Son of Frank Arthur Herbert and Marjorie Greenfield, of Gwelo, Southern Rhodesia. Entered Milner House in January 1937. He was in the School Boxing team and 1st XI Hockey team. He was very keenly interested in dramatics and took a leading part in five school performances. In 1940 he passed Cambridge School Certificate examination, obtaining five credits. After leaving Plumtree in December 1941, he entered the Civil Service, but soon after attested in the R.A.F. On Plumtree School Roll of Honour.
