LG Sup 5 November 1942 pg. 4796 - "For determination, leadership and initiative, when on the night of 30/31 August 1942 South of Alamein, his Company attacked an enemy position and succeeded in capturing 57 prisoners. Under heavy small arms fire, he led his company to within 30 yards of the enemy position, where they were temporarily held up. Accompanied by six men he worked around the enemy's flank and got behind their position, thereby diverting the enemy's attention and enabling the rest of the company to advance and overrun the position." |
