Cause of Death:
Died of injuries, three days after the accident, received in Aircraft Accident, Wellington IC X9755. Aircraft took off from Little Horwood for an evening exercise. During the night, the starboard engine caught fire and all effort to extinguish the flames failed. At 1850 hrs, while attempting to make a forced landing the aircraft struck some trees at Beachampton Rectory near Buckingham. One of the trees bears the marks to this day. Reg Bailey of the Home Guard was awarded the BEM medal for his efforts to save crew members
