Son of Norman Baillie Lovemore and Constance Mary Nowell (nee Gould) Lovemore, of Knysna, Cape Province, South Africa. Born Rugby, England. Educated Junior Grey School, Port Elizabeth; Cadet Draft 1935-6 (Junior Cadet Captain). After leaving General Botha, Robert St. Cyprian Nutcombe Lovemore took up farming as a career, but on the outbreak of war in 1939 joined the RAF and in 1940 was sent to Iraq to complete his training.
