 LG 27 September 1901 - "Arthur Percy Palmer, Lieutenant, 11th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry. In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa"
Husband of Josephine Helen Palmer, of 26, Compayne Gardens, Hampstead, London. Born Walthamstow, Essex. Trooper in the 34th Company Imperial Yeomanry but was commissioned on 19 October 1900. At Reitpan on 6 January 1901 he was shot at and later found three bullet holes in his uniform as well as being slightly wounded. He also fought at Fouriesburg Mill on 20 February 1901. At Thaba Patschoa, Warringham Store, on 17 March 1901 he left the Imperial Yeomanry, and joined Baden-Powell's South African Constabulary at Bloemfontein. Promoted to Captain and decided to stay in South Africa. Previous experience in the USA, British Columbia and Australia. ref. South African Roll of Honour 1914-1918
