Son of Lt. Col. The Hon. Frederick Spence Tatham, D.S.O., and Ada Susan Tatham, of Parkside, Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa. Born Pietermaritzburg. Educated Michaelhouse, Balgowan 1904; Marlborough College, England 1904-1908; Natal University College, Pietermaritzburg. Studied law at Marlborough College, England. Entered father's firm of Tatham, Wilkes & Co. A Trooper with Natal Carbineers in GSWA 1914-1915. Wounded and missing in Delville Wood. His brother also died on service. Commemorated on the Michaelhouse, Marlborough College & Natal University College WWI Memorials. Commemorated on WWI Memorial Cross outside the Cathedral of the Holy Nativity, Pietermaritzburg.
