Son of Alexander and Isabella (nee Driscoll) Taylor, of Glasgow, Scotland. Husband of Mary Helena Augusta Taylor, of South Coast Junction. He had four children. Born Kilcaldy, Fifeshire, Scotland. A carpenter with Hulett's Sugar Refinery, South Coast Junction. Served with the DLI in the Bambatha Rebellion 1906; also, with the SA Engineering Corps; served with the 4th Regiment in France & Belgium; WIA at Delville Wood July 1916; WIA (GSW right leg ? severe) during Battle of Arras 9 April 1917. His brother also died in service. Commemorated on the Durban Cenotaph; St. Mary's Anglican Church, Greyville & the South Coast Junction & Seaview WWI Memorials
