Son of John and Mary Rachel Twyman, of Soberton House, Soberton, Droxford, Hampshire, England. His three brothers also died in service. William Hugh Twynam - 11 January 1883 - 24 April 1915. Corporal 16391 with 7th Battalion Canadian Infantry. Commemorated on Menin Gate. Lieutenant Hugh Twynam - 14 May 1888 - 19 January 1917. Died when his submarine E36 collided with submarine E43 in British North Sea. Commemorated on Portsmouth Naval Memorial. Second Lieutenant Godfrey Twynam, 11th Battalion, Border Regiment - 9 March 1891 - 18 November 1916. Buried Waggon Road Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel. All four Twynam brothers are commemorated on the Soberton village war memorial and on a brass plaque in Soberton church.
