Died in Aircraft Accident, Corsair FG-1D NZ 5635, crashed on take off at Iwakuni, Honshu, Japan. Unfortunately his rudder trim had been set in the wrong position for takeoff, and after it lifted off it rolled to the left and crashed into the ground.

Additional Information
Son of Cecil Wright and of Mary Wright (nee Buttle), of Rotorua, Auckland, New Zealand; husband of Diana Joan Wright, of Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. The 28-year old pilot from Te Kuiti had joined the Air Force in 1941 and served throughout the war in units in Canada, the United Kingdom, Southern Rhodesia and New Zealand, before joining J Force, which was responsible for supervising and enforcing the peaceful de-militarisation of Japan.
