Son of Walter Poultney Halse and Letitia Alice Halse, of Pretoria, South Africa. Attended Kingswood College (Grahamstown) and Selborne College (East London). Originally buried in the German cemetery at Bantouzelle and then his body was moved to its current location. ref. South African Roll of Honour 1914-1918
