Died in Aircraft Accident, Hurricane I V7080, Hurricanes V7080 and T9521 – P/O W.R. James (Instructor) and Sgt Carter (pupil of 52 Course). Pilots of the respective machines were killed as the result of a collision in mid air at Balado Bridge

Son of Cecil and Eleanor Stansfield James, of Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia. Born Gosforth, Newcastle. Entered Lloyd House in May 1934. He left Plumtree in December 1935, and before attesting in the Air Force in July 1940, he was employed with the Rhodesian Printing and Publishing Company, in Bulawayo.
