Cause of Death:
 Killed in action, Lancaster I LL966, took off from East Kirkby, night raid to Rositz. One of two or, possibly, three aircraft shot down by anti-aircraft fire, 2 km E of Rositz, at Zschernitzsch (Altenburg), approximately 40 km S of Leipzig. Aircraft exploded on impact and wreckage was burnt and scattered over a wide area.

Son of Dr. Allan Ramsey and Harriet Agnes (nee Reid) Lacey, of Durban, Natal. Born Sydenham, Durban. Educated Highbury Preparatory 1928-1932; Hilton College 1933 ? 1936; Natal University College. Hilton 1st XI cricket, 1st XV rugby & School Prefect 1936; employed with the Durban Municipality pre-war; served with the Natal Mounted Rifles in Kenya, British Somaliland and Abyssinia; WIA (hand) in Abyssinia; transferred to the SAAF; served with the 630 RAF Squadron in Europe. Commemorated on the Highbury Preparatory; Hilton College; the Natal University College; the Durban Municipality (in the Durban City Hall) & the Durban Cenotaph WWII Memorials. Also commemorated on the 630 Squadron WWII Memorial, Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirby, Lincolnshire, England
