Cause of Death:
Died of wounds, received in action in an operation in the vicinity of El Alamein. The Regiment had been tasked to lift an enemy minefield to create a gap for 69 Bde and an Armoured Bde to pass through. Casualties were inflicted by severe MG fire and artillery bombardment. He suffered a traumatic injury to his left leg and died the same day

Son of Alfred Ernest Paton Landrey and Frances Harriet Landrey; husband of Frances Annetta Landrey, of Branksome Towers, Wanderers Street, Johannesburg. B.Sc., B.Sc. (Mining). Employed with the Dept of Mines. His brother also died in service in WW1
