Cause of Death:
Mined and sunk in the northeastern Adriatic Sea about 30 nautical miles north west of Zara in approximate position 44 30'N, 14 45'E. Five officers and 121 ratings were killed. Five officers (including the CO) and 58 ratings were picked up by HMS Atherstone.

Information:
Son of Thomas and Eunice Mary Little, Crown Mines, Johannesburg. Born Crown Mines, Johannesburg. A university student. Educated at St. Andrew's College, Grahamstown. At college June 1935-August 1939; Espin. Senior Prefect, Colours XV, Hockey, Matric. 1. '37, 1939 Rhodes Scholar. Destined for Trinity College, Oxford, he came to Rhodes U.C., and joined R.N.V.R. immediately after taking his B.A. He was assigned for service with the Greek navy and was awarded the D.S.C. in the course of this service.
