Cause of Death:
Cerinthus SS was a British Steam Tanker of 3,878 tons built in 1930. On the 10th November 1942 when on route from LONDON & OBAN for FREETOWN in ballast she was torpedoed by U-128 and sunk by gunfire. Died in lifeboat from exposure and starvation

Son of Hugh McClughan and Elizabeth (nee Boardman) McClughan. Born Bellair, South Africa. Educated Epsom Road School, Durban. Ex-Cadet of the South African Training Ship General Botha. Cadet Draft 1929-30. After leaving General Botha, became an apprentice in the Merchant Navy.
