Cause of Death:
Killed in action, during attack of second battle of Alamein. In the face of heavy machinegun fire the South Africans stormed the strongpoint and after 15 minutes of desperate close quarter fighting they overcame the enemy resistance. The Natal Company [attached to the SA Field Force Battalion], like the FFB before it, suffered heavily - Lt. Dennis PLATT was killed.
