LG Sup 3 September 1918 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in charge of a Lewis-gun section. Owing to a heavy mist, the enemy were on top of the trench occupied by his section before they were seen. He at once engaged the enemy with his revolver, keeping them at bay until the section had withdrawn about 50 yards. He then rejoined his section and handled his gun with great skill, inflicting severe losses and repulsing all attacks. His coolness and courage throughout was most marked. Finally he was severely wounded." |
