Served as a Lance Corporal with the Bedford Town Guard & District Mounted Troops in the ABW; taken prisoner at Baviaan's River 14/3/1901; a farmer. Enlisted as Private (#765335) with the 28th Battalion LR (The Artists Rifles); commissioned & served with the 7th Battalion in France. ref. South African Roll of Honour 1914-1918. Ccommemoration stone in Daggaboer Cemetery, Bedford. Commemorated on the Kingswood College; the Bedford Town, Eastern Cape & the Bedford Presbyterian Church WWI Memorials. ***Headstone says TROLLOP
