Cause of Death:
 Died in Aircraft Accident, Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.8 #A3779, flying an artillery spotting and counter-attack patrol over Flanders, Belgium. Upon returning to the airfield from his patrol, his aircraft stalled at low altitude while attempting to land, causing a fatal crash. killed alongside his observer, Captain Herbert Eyden, who also perished in the crash.
