Brother of Reginald Edwin Webber, of Rosebank, Dordrecht, Cape Province. John Maskrey Webber (paradoxically called "Jack" by the family) was the eldest son of Edwin Alfred Webber and Ellen Elizabeth Webber (nee Maskrey). He was from the Eastern Cape region in South Africa and was born on 10 October 1895. He left at least two sisters behind. He had two brothers but not sure what became of them. He died of influenza and left two orphan sisters who were entirely reliant on him.
