Information:
Born at Potchefstroom in 1918 and enlisted on 26/2/41; he had no trade and had previously been in the Special Service Battalion; this was a unit formed in the 1930s for unemployed youths. He was posted to the 1st Bn. Pretoria Highlanders in the 6th S.A. Infantry Brigade, the unit later spending some time on the Mozambique border. He was punished several times for being A.W.O.L. and was medically downgraded to 'C' before being killed in a motor accident. He was entitled to the War Medal and Africa Service Medal but these were never issued.
