LG Sup 24 September 1918 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of a fighting patrol. Coming in contact with a strong enemy patrol he shot the leading man and brought rapid fire to bear on the remainder, who were driven off. Under heavy rifle and machinegun fire he then collected his party and brought them back together with the wounded man whom he had shot. He showed great coolness and able leadership."
