Killed in action, Lancaster BI PA195, took off from Spilsby, on way to Karlsruhe, presumed down 23:32 by Hptm. Gerhard Friedrich of Stab 1./NJG 6 at 3,500 metres, and crashed in the Hagsfeld area in the SE of Karlsruhe. He was on his 22nd operational flight |

Foster son of Horace and Enid Millicent Boby, of Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. Born Durban. Entered Grey House in January 1936. After leaving Plumtree School in December, 1939 he was employed by the Rhodesia Railways. He received preliminary training outside the Colony, and proceeded overseas in July 1943. Commemorated on Plumtree School Roll of Honour |
