Cause of Death: |
Murdered, by German guard, whilst a POW. A German soldier started cursing and scolding his group and urging them to walk faster, it was too much for this Zulu. He tapped Sgt Folscher on the shoulder and said: ?Sergeant, watch how I?m going to beat him now!?. Sgt Folscher grabbed Piet by the arm to try to stop him, but his fingers slipped over the sweaty muscles and then he came straight at the German with his arms folded and his fists clenched. The German's Luger barked three times and then Piet fell forward, turned on his back and looked up with glassy eyes into the smoke-covered sky. Sgt Folscher could see that "Piet Zulu" was dead. Sgt Folscher wanted to jump out at him, but the guard also aimed at him and Sgt Folscher jumped back into line and stumbled on. |
