Cause of Death:
Died of wounds, received during Relief in Le Sars sector, in London. He suffered gunshot wounds to right thigh (fractured femur) and was too weak to be operated on by the time he reached 1st London General Hospital. He died of blood loss and exhaustion.

Next of kin, of Mrs. C. Payne, of 22 Upper Elmwood Avenue, Ranclagh, Dublin. Was of the last South African group relieved on the 20th July at Delville Wood.
