Quickly and with great resolution he crossed a wide open space and was then able to get near enough to shoot a machine gunner with his pistol. Closing in he threw a hand grenade into an occupied and well protected house, resulting in the surrender of one Officer and 17 men. This cleared the way for a further advance. The whole occurence took place under heavy enemy fire."
