MC LG Sup 17 Sept 1917 pg. 9568 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on two occasions, in entering a dug out which had been wrecked by hostile shell fire, extricating the victims and carrying them to the dressing station, three hundred yards away, under heavy and continuous shell fire. By this prompt and gallant action he and his N.C.O. were the direct means of saving many lives, as the place was again hit directly after his work was completed. He has frequently proved himself an extremely gallant officer, with utter disregard for danger when assisting others"; MID LG Sup 18 May 1917 pg. 4877

Son of Major John Quayle Dickson DSO, of Knockaloe, Isle of Man. Born 1888 in Douglas, Isle of Man. Educated at Kings College School London; Camborne School of Mines (Cornwall). A mining engineer. In 1912 he went to Mexico, and held appointments at the Mexico Mines of El Oro and Las Dos Estrellas Mines. ref. South African Roll of Honour 1914-1918
