Cause of Death: |
Drowned, at Walton-on-Thames. Four men, convalescing at Walton Red Cross Hospital, Fink, Newberry, Frankim and Ferreira all went for a row in a single sculler, three sitting in the stern. It is presumed that the sculler wanted to change his position, and on getting up the bow of the boat tipped into the air and all were thrown into the water. Private Ferreira managed to reach the shore in an exhausted condition, but the others handicapped by their wounds and uniforms, sank before assistance could reach them. |
