LG 31 December 1942 pg. 5667 - "One 23 June 1942 Cpl. Ramsay was in charge of the party of men detailed to light the fuses for the demolition charges on the upper road of Sollum Hill. There were four sets of charges spaced at 100 yards intervals and Cpl Ramsay and his men remained at their posts for over 24 hours awaiting firing orders. The Hill came under continuous shellfire during this period, and after the infantry rear party was withdrawn down the Hill the enemy machine gunned the road in his attempt to destroy the demolition party. Cpl Ramsay kept his men under cover and kept on the move between the points maintaining direct contact with his men and checking up in the event of any mishap which might mar the success of the demolition. On receiving firing orders, he assisted each man in turn and brought them out safely. The splendid way in which Cpl Ramsay carried out the task is worthy of high praise and contributed largely to the success of the demolition and the safe return of the demolition party."
