Served as a Trooper (#222) with the Border Mounted Rifles & the Natal Volunteer Composite Regiment in the ABW 1899-1902; served with DLI in GSWA 1914-1915 (Served as William DIXON). Commemorated on on the Durban Light Infantry WWI Memorial. Commemorated on on the Durban cenotaph
