 Killed in action, B-26B-4-MA Marauder 41-18039 "Z", crashed into sea half-a-mile West of Asinara Isle, off the NW tip of Sardinia, on recovery to Alghero after patrol. The bodies of the dead crew members, with the exception of Lt Brummer SAAF, who was not found, were recovered by Italian fishermen
