Cause of Death:
 Murdered, two members from the Orange Free State Command Maintenance Unit were abducted and killed in a Right-Wing inspired ammunition heist when their military vehicle was ambushed while transporting ammunition from De Brug outside Bloemfontein, to Ladybrand. They were dumped into the boots of two cars and hours later thrown into the Modder River to drown, one of them with his hands and feet still tied. The two perpetrators were later apprehended, and subsequently convicted. On 31 Jul 2001, the Bloemfontein High Court sentenced one of the perpetrators to a double life sentence while the other was sentenced to 26 years in prison
